Swine Flu

I'm sitting here, recovering from the final stages of what was very possibly swine flu and I just felt like writing a whole bunch of random stuff going through my head. Please not that there will be a lot of things here not supported by any evidence, and no I am not a medical doctor, or anything like that... Although this should go without saying anyway!

Anyhow, because I was afraid to die of fever that wouldn't seize for days on end, I started googling for info, hoping to find something that would make me feel better. I found a bunch of posts where people are asking the question.... "How long does fever last with swine flu"? Sadly there are a bunch of idiots that come in and say 2-3 days. some of them at least have the courtesy to inform the asker that they took Tamiflu,(an antiviral medication) and that is why their fever went down so fast. Others don't even mention it choosing to hide this info, possibly unintentionally. These people are spreading misinformation, and I am happy to take this opportunity to do something about it...

Let me ask you a question... How high can you jump up? Possibly a few feet? Well, if you ask me the same thing, I'll tell you I can jump several meters. you'll call me crazy right? Well what if I then tell you that I meant "with a spring board"?
Are you seeing where I am going with this? What's the point of mentioning Tamiflu when the question is obviously asking how long can this virus make you burn with fever? Like OVERALL, or AT MOST? Here, is where many variables come in.. How strong is your immune system? Did you take any medication to help yourself? Any home remedies? How soon did you start doing something after first symptoms? and Fianlly...
DID YOU TAKE TAMIFLU and HOW SOON?

Now lets deal with what I see to be a major issue. It is my strong belief that Tamiflu is a horrible, dangerous medication and should not be taken by anyone under any circumstances unless the only other option is straight out death. OMG! I am going to get screamed at right now!

Well, I took Tamiflu a long time ago and almost died from the adverse side effects. It was horrific. At first everything was ok, but in the second day I suddenly felt like my face muscles were starting to become paralyzed... It was very sudden and unexpected. I stumbled to the door of my room and asked a family member to help me when I immediately felt like I was going to throw up... I barely made it to the bathroom when the vomiting started. It felt like the very soul was pouring out of me, my head was banging, I could barely speak because of the face paralysis... It was crazy. Finally it stopped when I was already begging to call 911.

Now.. After something like this, can I possibly take Tamiflu for Swine Flu? not if I am completely out of my mind or other options are exhausted.
Bunch of baloney, you might say. I took it, and it helped me, and I am perfectly fine! Well... Goody for you! I am glad you are strong as an ox and this poison doesn't affect you. but what about others? If you go to wikipedia, and search for Tamiflu, you will see that there are indeed many extremely negative side effects, even psychological ones. It is undetermined what long term effects this thing can have on people either! It was determined to have mutagenic and carcinogenic properties under some conditions and tests as well. Hey, you can do whatever you want, but I'm putting my faith in my immune system over the pharmaceutical industry and the CDC on this one. In fact I have no faith in these guys at all since it's probably the govt which created the damn virus anyway. (Oh how dare I say something this ridiculous?)

Finally, let's try and answer the question "How long can fever last in someone sick with "Swine flu", and let's try to do it right, without mentioning Tamiflu. Let's assume someone is "gasp" NOT taking an antiviral medication, instead trying to beat this thing using other means. Well, the answer is, easily up to 5 days straight, and easily more. Fever remaining in very high digits around 39.6 C in my case and staying there, constantly, non stop, poorly responding to fever reducers, namely Tylenol and Advil, which only manage to lower it half half degree to a degree at best. In my case the fever lasted 7 days with dropping to 37.6 C in the last two days. I am now on the 8th day, with little or no fever still feeling extremely bad with severe, constant cough and sore throat. I don't know when this thing will finally end, but I am hopeful, and I try to be strong.

What did I do as far as treatment goes? I took Azithromicyn, which my doc gave when I refused Tamiflu. The antibiotic off course didnt do anyhitng, but I took it all the way till the end of the course. I took Tussin for the cough, which again is absolutely useless in my case. I took Advil and Tylenol, which helped a bit, but only a bit... Oh, and cough drops which are really nice while they last. One interesting thing I tried is my Frankenstein interpretation of what someone else did as a home remedy. I took half an onion, cut it up, put in in a thermos, and poured boiling hot water over it. closed the thermos, let it sit for around 10-20min, then put my head under the quilt and with my mouth over the top of the thermos, breathed in the hot steam with my mouth and exhaled through the nose. (the quilt is obviously so steam doesn't escape too fast) Hot steam running through the trachea and lungs feels really good.... Before I went to sleep I cut up another half onion put it in a small container filled with cool water, and just left it overnight to evaporate next to my bed. It was on the next morning of the 7th day(today) when my fever finally broke. A coincidence? Maybe. but was it worth a try? Why the heck not?

According to my google research, there are many people who have their Swine Flu fever lasting up to around 9 days!!! With other symptoms lasting much, much longer.
Please always have faith in yourself, and don't be quick to jump on vaccines and meds that the govt is trying to push on you. Good luck, and may the force be with you. I hope my post will help people get through their Swine or any other form of flu easier.
